       Silent Movie Under The Stars

Features Bob Salisbury and Buster Keaton in “College”!

On Saturday, August 16th , The Community Arts Theater Society, in association with The Broadway Café, will once again sponsor a “silent-movie under the stars” featuring the incredible Bob Salisbury on the theatre organ.   Internationally known theatre organist, Bob Salisbury, will play his famous underscoring for the 1927 classic silent movie, “COLLEGE” starring Buster Keaton. The very popular yearly outside event will be held at 1117 W. Big Bear Blvd. in Big Bear City from 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM.  The event is a benefit for CATS and the CATS Warehouse Theater, which is located next to the Café.  Space is limited, and advance ticket purchase is advised.  Tickets are $20 and include a complete home-made spaghetti dinner.  Tickets are available at the Broadway Café at 909-585-7682.

Salisbury, formerly a  Big Bear resident, is famous as the long time organist for the 1,264 pipe Page Organ at the Avalon Theatre on Catalina.  Salisbury is in high demand and travels all over the country playing various venues. One of the very few organists still performing silent movie underscoring, his unique talent is acclaimed all over the U.S.   Salisbury’ s appearance is a rare opportunity to experience his amazing talents in Big Bear.  This silent-movie night promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for families of all ages to enjoy movies as they were produced before talkies and sound tracks took over.  Salisbury plays the entire score, including sound effects, “live and in person”, and is a delight to watch and hear.

Dinner music will be played by The Heart Lites starting at 6:30. The “family-affordable” all inclusive ticket price of $20 includes the movie, entertainment, dinner and pop corn.  Beer and wine are available for purchase. Space is limited so it is advisable to get your tickets early.  Parking will be available behind the Warehouse Theater off Aeroplane, Tulip Lane on the corner, the lot next to LaPaws and at the old Riffenburghs lot.  You are advised to bring a sweater and a flash light.  Tickets for this one-time family event are on sale now at The Broadway Café .  Info can be found on the CATS web site atwww.bigbeartheater.org or at the Broadway Café at 909-585-7682.

CATS 2014 SEASON

The Community Arts Theater Society (CATS) is pleased to announce its 19th consecutive season of quality theater in the Big Bear Lake valley. Last year proved to be a very successful season, and the Community Arts Theater Society's 2013 Season promises to be even better as we move forward with the construction and completion of our very own Warehouse Theater.  As C.A.T.S. productions enjoy increasing popularity, advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended. Several shows last year were Sold Out, disappointing many who waited until the last minute to purchase tickets.
